Betalist featured Stiki, the wiki app for companies, in February. Since it was so well received by the BetaList community we decided to follow up with founder @tbsthl to talk more about the product and his plans for the future. Submit your startup to get featured too.

Can you tell us more about Stiki?

Tobias: Wiki apps like MediaWiki or Confluence have been around for a long time. They give teams the ability to build up their own little Wikipedia where all team members can share know-how for the whole team to benefit from.

Unfortunately most internal wiki apps feel outdated, slow, overwhelming and are not fun to use. Most end up not being used.

I couldn’t find a modern wiki app that is fast, easy-to-use & well designed. That’s why I started Stiki. The Wiki that works 💪🏻🚀

Where did you get the idea for Stiki?

Tobias: I believe that every team should set up an internal wiki. It boosts productivity and gets more things done. When I set up a wiki last year, I noticed that after a while I stopped taking notes.

This happens because it feels like hard work to capture thoughts with most wiki apps. It takes 2–3 clicks and up to 10 seconds before the user can start typing.

I ended up doing market research about modern wiki apps and I was shocked that the wiki market wasn’t disrupted by modern software tools in the last years. A few days later I started working on Stiki. A few weeks after that I decided to hand over all my client projects and focus 100% on Stiki.

How did you come up with the name “Stiki”?

Tobias: Me and my former co-founder wanted to have a name that is short, easy to remember and rhymes with ”Wiki”. On my way home I listened to an old Cypress Hill song where B-Real says “I throw it out if I don’t see that it’s green and sticky.” Then we just changed some letters. Stiki.

What does the future hold?

Tobias: Stiki is the wiki that works because it is fast & easy-to-use for everyone as well as on every device. It helps teams of every size and in every industry to transform into knowledge-creating teams that value efficiency and transparency. And everyone will read knowhowhacker.com :)
